With over 400 lots including Olympic memorabilia, football collectibles and cycling rarities, the new sports auction organized by Bolaffi Auctions on June 5th in Internet Live mode, offers a journey through some of the most significant pages of sport over the past decades.
Among the most spectacular objects stands out the Moncler outfit used during the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games at the San Siro stadium in Milan (lot 10, estimate 5,000-7,500 euros). The lot, with unique design, includes an iconic limited edition down jacket with coordinated hood, mountain boots, gloves and scenic mask. This uniform was personally designed by Remo Ruffini, president and chief executive officer of Moncler.
The tennis section features a pair of Nike Air Max Courtballistec 3.3 shoes prepared for Rafael Nadal during the 2011 Wimbledon tournament (lot 12, 2,500-5,000 euros). The shoes, personalized "Rafa Vault", are new and are presented inside a plexiglass case specially created for display.
Particularly rich is the proposal dedicated to cycling, with 28 lots including historic jerseys, autographs and objects belonging to the great protagonists of two-wheeled racing. Among these stands out one of the most sought-after pieces of post-war Italian cycling: a jersey from the Club dei Moschettieri attributed to Arnaldo Pambianco (lot 42, 3,000-4,000 euros), an extraordinary testimony to the brief but legendary experience desired in 1962 by industrialist Giovanni Borghi.
Curious is the story of a lot of great fascination: a collection of memorabilia linked to Fausto Coppi and the Carpano team (lot 43, 5,000-7,500 euros) including a Vittore Gianni training jersey, personally sent by the champion in 1957 to a young English fan who had written him a letter addressed simply to the city of Novi Ligure. The collector preserved for his entire life also part of the original package used for the shipment. The lot includes magazines dedicated to Coppi, autographed signatures, a notebook with signatures of numerous cyclists from the 1950s and 1960s, and a scale model of the Bianchi from the 1953 World Championship.
A pink jersey from the 1952 Giro d'Italia attributed to Fausto Coppi (lot 44, 10,000-15,000 euros) further enriches the rich cycling section.
Ample space is also dedicated to football memorabilia, with some artifacts from the Grande Torino. Among these the original tricolor shield applied to the granata shirts of the immediate post-war period (lot 58, 1,750-2,000 euros), made of hand-sewn fabric and preserved in excellent condition. This particular model was used only for a very brief period because it tended to fade during washing, making surviving examples highly sought after today. To the team of the Invincibles also belongs a commemorative medal in 18-karat gold, which bears the shields conquered by Torino and the victories in the Coppa Italia, donated in 1949 by then-president Ferruccio Novo to an external collaborator of the club (lot 85, 1,500-2,500 euros).
As usual, the auction presents a rich selection of club and national team jerseys from the 1960s to the present day, coming from former footballers, sports executives and important private collections. Among the most significant pieces are the Milan jersey worn by Kaká against Roma in the 2008-2009 season (lot 151, 1,250-1,500 euros), a Napoli jersey from the 1990-1991 season belonging to Diego Armando Maradona and coming from the collection of a former referee (lot 281, 3,500-5,000 euros), a Manchester City jersey from 1977-1978 (lot 319, 5,000-7,500 euros), the historic granata jersey of Ciccio Graziani from the 1973-1974 season (lot 322, 5,000-7,500 euros), the jersey worn by Giuseppe Giannini during Italia '90 (lot 379, 2,000-3,000 euros), a very rare Chinese national team jersey used in the friendly match against the Italian Military National Team on October 19, 1978 (lot 401, 5,000-6,000 euros) and an Italian National Team jersey belonging to Claudio Gentile in the 1978 season (lot 402, 3,500-5,000 euros).
