Team UKYO continues its monologue at the Tour of Japan 2026. After two consecutive victories achieved by Tomaso Dati in the prologue and the first stage, in the second fraction it was Nicolò Garibbo's turn to lay down the law, thus extending to three the streak of successes for the Japanese team in their home race.
At his third personal victory in this 2026 after the triumphs achieved at the Tour of Sardinia and at the Tour de Kumano, the class of '99 from Imperia got the better of in the sprint Spanish Benjamín Prades (VC Fukuoka), second as 24 hours earlier, Australian Oscar Gallagher (CCACHE x BODYWRAP) and the entire group of top contenders who came to contest the victory at the sprint after catching, in the last of the eight laps of the 25-kilometre circuit drawn around the finish line in Inabe, the day's breakaway.
The latter, composed of Testsuo Yamamoto (Team UKYO), Tilen Finkšt (Solution Tech NIPPO Rali), Nils Sinschek (Li Ning Star), Genki Yamamoto (Kinan Racing Team) and Francesco Carollo (Swatt Club), could do nothing against the return of the peloton which, thinned out along the slopes of the 900-metre climb at 8.8% that characterized the circuit, approached the final winding hundreds of metres with a rather large group in which the team led by Manuele Boaro, taking control of operations with the general classification leader Dati and Iacomoni, put Garibbo in the ideal conditions to prevail ahead of everyone.
