The Giro d'Italia is starting, it's true, but elite youth cycling doesn't stop and today we're bringing you a major event on these pages: starting at 11 AM, we will broadcast live streaming the road race of the eighth edition of the Challenge Bresciana Giancarlo Otelli in two stages (in the afternoon, an individual time trial is scheduled for the top 20 finishers from the morning). We'll tell you about it through the images from Team Rodella and the commentary of Stefano Masi.

The great classic for juniors will take place in Sarezzo, with the organizational direction of Aspiratori Otelli Alchem by Laura and Mauro Otelli and president Simone Pontara, and will see the best formations from the national scene at the start. Don't miss this appointment!

THE RACE. Today marks the renewal of the national Brescia Challenge "Giancarlo Otelli", a road race event reserved for the Junior category now in its seventh edition and which honors the unforgettable figure of the Valtrumplino entrepreneur (owner of Aspiratori Otelli company and "soul" of the homonymous cycling team) who passed away prematurely in January 2019. This year, there are 147 registered riders representing 22 teams.

The appointment with the event organized by the Aspiratori Otelli Sports Group under president Simone Pontara is for Sunday in Sarezzo with two consecutive appointments. At 10 AM on Via Unità d'Italia at Ponte Zanano in Sarezzo, in front of the Aspiratori Otelli company headquarters, the sixth Bigmat Maflan Trophy will start, a 90-kilometer and 650-meter road race that will see the finish line also on Via Unità d'Italia.

In the afternoon, instead, there will be the "Remembering Giancarlo" time trial, the concluding test of the Challenge where the top twenty finishers from the morning's Bigmat Maflan Trophy will participate by right, with the first 10 teams with at least one athlete classified in the top 20 who may decide to start an additional athlete among those who completed the morning race.

The first start will be scheduled for 3:30 PM from Via Seradello at Ponte Zanano in front of the Bigmat Maflan company headquarters, with 5 kilometers and 600 meters of time trial racing that will conclude (after passages through the Gombio and Pina localities) with the finish on Via Castignidolo in Polaveno (Brescia) after the final 3 kilometers with 150 meters of positive elevation gain (240 total), with the exception of the final 250 meters which are mostly flat.

The scores from the two races will form the final standings of the Challenge Bresciana "Giancarlo Otelli" and will determine the successor in the honor roll of the 2025 winner, Matteo Turconi (Bustese Olonia).

THE JERSEYS - Four jerseys are up for grabs, with the provisional jerseys to be worn at the end of the road race as well, while the definitive ones will be awarded after the afternoon time trial.
