President Cordiano Dagnoni and General Secretary Marcello Tolu visited today, together with the Mayor of Spresiano Marco Della Pietra and Remo Mosole, the construction sites in Spresiano, which opened just a few days ago for the phase of demolition of structures not needed for the new velodrome. It was an opportunity to take stock of the construction of the second indoor facility dedicated to cycling, which has entered the operational phase.
"After years of uncertainty, bureaucratic red tape and numerous issues to resolve, work has finally begun on the realization of a modern and functional facility dedicated to cycling that will serve the entire North East of the country – said President Dagnoni during the inspection. The Spresiano velodrome is one of the most burdensome legacies we found at the time of our appointment. It was not simple to modify the project, which had become obsolete, and create a new one, without losing the planned funding while simultaneously finding the necessary resources for the new project. It has been a long and complicated undertaking, which has involved the Federation, the Veneto Region, the Municipality, Sport and Health, the Government and numerous other parties. I extend my thanks to all of them on behalf of the entire Italian cycling movement. Now that work has begun, we can say we have finally overcome the steepest part of the climb and can begin to see the finish line in the distance."
