Just one year ago Lotte Kopecky had put her mark on her teammate Lorena Wiebes' victory, but today on via Roma no one managed to put their wheel ahead of the Belgian world-class rider. The signature of the two-time world champion on the Milano Sanremo Women is not only a precious victory, but confirmation that her 2025 had been just a small parenthesis in a stellar career. Kopecky outsprinted a quintet that had formed right on the Poggio. Second place for Noemi Ruegg, third a brilliant Eleonora Camilla Gasparrini. In the top ten also Elisa Balsamo and Chiara Consonni, eighth and tenth at the finish line respectively.
THE RACE. Second edition for the newly created Milano Sanremo that started from Genoa and reached Sanremo after 156 km. A highly contested and fought race, so much so that it took over 50 km before the first breakaway of the day formed. Nine riders managed to attack: Eleonora La Bella (Aromitalia Vaiano), Katia Ragusa (Human Powere Health), Lara Crestanello (Isolmant Premac Vittoria), Costance Valentin (Mayeenne Monbana My Pie), Heidi Franz (St Michel Preference Home Auber 93), Eleonora Deotta (Mendelspeck E - Work), Sara Luccon (Top Girl Fassa Bortolo), Sofia Arici (Vini Fantini Be Pink) and Bodine Vollering (VolkerWessels); the breakaway riders managed to reach up to 3'00" advantage over the group led by Team SD Worx.
With the start of the Capes the race, which until that moment had been almost flat, completely changed its physiognomy and in no time the advantage of the fugitives collapsed. Under the impulse of SD Worx the group reduced the distances until returning compact 32 km from the finish.
The Milano Sanremo, however, exploded completely on the Cipressa where Kasia Niwiadoma caused havoc trying to disrupt the group's plans without, however, succeeding completely. The Polish rider from the Canyon Sram team was absolutely the most active during the descent, but unfortunately was the protagonist of a very bad crash in which Debora Silvestri was also involved and unfortunately flew beyond the guardrail.
The Poggio was the great judge of the Milano Sanremo Women, in the last kilometer of climbing the group literally exploded following the accelerations of Puck Pieterse (Fenix Premier Tech) and Dominika Wlodarczyk (UAE Team ADQ). A quintet formed by Pieterse and Wlodarczyk, but also by Lotte Kopecky, Eleonora Camilla Gasparrini and Noemi Ruegg was created at the front. The five, also exploiting the numerical superiority of the Emirati team, managed to handle the small advantage well both on the descent and on the flat section and played out the victory in a sprint. Lotte Kopecky was the fastest and crossed the finish line on via Roma first.
