Just a scare but nothing broken, in the end, for Eleonora Ciabocco. After crashing and being forced to withdraw during the Trofeo Binda held yesterday on the roads around Cittiglio, the 2004-born rider from Corridonia, as reported by the Team Picnic PostNL (her team for the past four years), has not suffered any fractures and, after a period of monitoring, will be able to resume regular competitive activity.
"Following yesterday's crash at the Trofeo Binda, Eleonora underwent further medical examinations at the hospital: she has some abrasions and cuts on her face, which required a few stitches, but there are no fractures" reads the statement released by the Dutch World Tour team on its social media channels.
"Given the nature of the crash, we will continue to monitor her to check for any signs of concussion, giving her the time necessary to recover gradually without rushing her return to training or racing".
Ciabocco, therefore, once she has recovered from the effects of the tumble that involved her, will be able to return soon to her road bike and resume a season that, before Sunday, had seen her stand out especially at the UAE Tour Women, a race where, finishing sixth in the final stage with the finish at Jebel Hafeet, she had achieved an excellent sixth place in the general classification while also being the best young rider of the event.
