A serious accident occurred today during the first stage of the Tour du Rwanda. The statement issued by the race organizers explains the facts: «The Tour du Rwanda management regrets to inform the public of an accident that occurred today during the first stage in the Gabiro area, where a caravan vehicle left the road hitting several spectators.

Unfortunately, two people lost their lives and six others were injured. The injured are receiving care and we are carefully monitoring their conditions. The Rwandan National Police have launched an investigation to determine the causes of the incident. We extend our deepest condolences to the affected families and remain committed to public safety».
