Thirty-one teams and 186 athletes for another great success of the Florence-Empoli, a national classic for elite and under-23 riders, of which Saturday, February 21st marks the thirty-ninth edition. The race will remember the historic president of the organizing society Renzo Maltinti, as well as Lorenzo Parenti, in whose memory a special flying sprint is planned at the passage through Fibbiana. The start is at 11:45 from Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence, the official start at noon from Galluzzo, then S.Casciano, Cerbaia, Montelupo, Empoli after 41 km. Here begins the 16.900 km circuit to be repeated five times with the climbs of Monteboro and Monterappoli, while the sixth and final lap will be 23 kilometers with the "La Casetta" climb 4 km from the finish expected on via Carraia in front of Maltinti after 149 kilometers between 3:30 and 4 PM.
MAIN ENTRIES: Among the registered riders stand out the winner of last Saturday's Coppa San Geo Arrighetti, Buda, Favero, Basso, Quaranta, Attolini, Drei, Fede, Palomba, and three local athletes, Lorenzo Magli from Fibbiana, Riccardo Lorello from Limite sull'Arno and the Empoli native Andrea Biancalani. For the Florence-Empoli (in 2025 the Englishman Ben Granger won), there's also an international touch with the presence of the Swiss V.C. Mendrisio, the French U.C. Monaco and the Ukrainian national team.
