The roads of Gallipoli and the Salento Peninsula have provided an excellent training ground for the Gallina Lucchini Ecotek Colosio, which has completed its final preparation block here ahead of the seasonal debut. After the training camp in Puglia, the team led by Cesare Turchetti is ready to inaugurate the new competitive year on home roads, lining up at the 102nd Coppa San Geo, with departure (12:30) from Ponte San Marco and arrival in Padenghe sul Garda, in the Brescia area, for a total of 164.6 kilometers.
There is great anticipation for the seasonal debut, to which the team will present itself with seven riders selected based on the indications that emerged during the Puglia retreat, where the fitness level showed very encouraging signals. Sports director Benatti, together with his collaborator Magnani and trainer Ricci, deemed it appropriate to call up for Saturday's challenge the athletes who showed the best responses during the Puglia retreat: Michele Bonometti, Matteo Faustinelli, Luca Franzosi, Jacopo Militello, Valentino Mercatali, Raffaele Veneri, Andrea Buti and Luca Carnicella. One of these will be a reserve.
The day after the San Geo, the same riders will compete in the Trofeo Mugello Bike Expo-Circuito Scarperia-Firenze in Tuscany. The race, which will take place on Sunday, February 15, includes a 120-kilometer route and will start at 2:00 PM.
