In Tuscany, this is an absolute novelty, but it's possible that in other places the service has already been tested and activated. Pegaso Bike Service, the company that manages most of the radio information services during cycling races in Tuscany with the Gruppo Radio Corsa Toscana, has successfully experimented with the live textual coverage of the 78th Florence-Viareggio from start to finish.
It involves accessing a specifically created Telegram channel via a WhatsApp link, and race news will continuously scroll on the phone. A service that gives sports fans and cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to not miss anything about the race and its development, and which also allows support vehicles and other professionals to follow along.
"It's a service we will continue to develop," says Dimitri Bessi of Pegaso Bike, "and we are happy and satisfied with the feedback from the first textual live coverage, as well as the utility of the service for everyone to work and operate at their best." From the finish line in Viareggio, we appreciated the service and hope it can be repeated in numerous races. For this, thanks go to Dimitri Bessi, his wife Barbara Morozzi who often drives the radio information vehicle, Lorenzo Volpi, Paolo Ceccarini, and the motorcyclists Adriano Dini (coordinator), Sandro Manzi, Piero Germelli, Valerio Donati, who proposed this innovation to improve the organizational quality of a cycling race, debuting in an excellent classic like the national Ferragosto race.
