
The 2025 BMX Racing European Championships concluded in Valmiera (Latvia) from July 10 to 13, featuring over 1,225 athletes (Championships, Cruisers, and Challenge) representing 24 nations on the iconic track named after Māris Štrombergs, the first and two-time Olympic gold medalist in the discipline.
In the Elite Women's category, British athlete Bethany Shriever won the European title, ahead of Dutch riders Merel Smulders and Laura Smulders, while the defending Swiss champion Zoe Claessens finished fifth.
In the Men's Elite category, France celebrated a great victory with Mathis Ragot Richard, followed by his compatriot Arthur Pilard (defending champion) and Swiss rider Sylvain André.
In the Under 23 Women's category, home rider Veronika Monika Sturiska brought gold to Latvia, winning ahead of Swiss rider Michelle Wiss and Czech athlete Sabina Košárková. In the Under 23 Men's category, Dutch dominance continued with Jason Noordam's victory, beating his compatriot Casper Pipers. The third step of the podium went to Latvian Edgars Langmanis, to the delight of the home crowd.
In the Junior Women's category, British rider Freia Challis was crowned European champion, ahead of her compatriot Elsa Rendall Todd and French rider Lola De Oliveira. In the Junior Men's category, Latvia triumphed with Kristers Apels, followed by Swedish rider Jesper Wahlberg, while Swiss rider Mark Lüthi secured the bronze medal.
The next edition of the BMX Racing European Championships will be held in Sarrians (France) from June 24 to 28, 2026.
