
It was a beautiful and important evening that characterized the official presentation of the 39th edition of the Medio Brenta Tour, organized by the Veloce Club Villa del Conte, chaired by Eng. Michele Michielon, which took place on Thursday, June 19th at the Agrialloggi "La Palazzina" in Curtarolo (Padova) and saw the packed participation of authorities and cycling enthusiasts.
The welcome greetings were inaugurated by President Michielon, followed by those of the President of the Veneto Regional Council and Vice-Chairman of the Professional Cycling League, Roberto Ciambetti, and the President of the Regional Cycling Federation Veneto Committee, Mario Guerretta. Representing the Municipality of Gallio, where the finish line is located, were Mayor Marinella Sambugaro and Sports Councilor Massimo Sambugaro, and for the Municipality of Villa del Conte, where the start is planned, Councilor Gabriella Vigri, along with colleague Alessandro Mazzon, for the Municipalities of Curtarolo, the Mayor of San Giorgio in Bosco, Nicola Pettenuzzo, and many other distinguished guests.
The exceptional testimonial of the beautiful ceremony was the cycling champion, Gilberto Simoni, winner of two Giro d'Italia and the Medio Brenta in 1992.
The program of the prestigious international summer classic 1.2, reserved for Elite-Under 23 and scheduled for Sunday, July 6th, which enjoys various institutional and sports patronages, was illustrated in detail by sports director Flavio Miozzo. The morning gathering, open to the public, will take place at the Ballan Company in Abbazia Pisani di Villa del Conte with departure at 12:45. The riders engaged in Alta Padovana (programmed from San Giorgio in Bosco to Cittadella), after a local circuit, will reach the Asiago Plateau of the Seven Municipalities with a high-altitude lap and the spectacular finish in Gallio.
Among the important registered participants is the MBHBank-Ballan-CSB-Colpack team (winner of last year's edition) with the anticipated local favorite Matteo Ambrosini from Canove di Roana. The race is known to be included in the Trofeo Internazionale Grand Prix Città Murata Trilogy (which also includes the Gran Premio Sportivi di Poggiana and the Alta Padovana Tour), promoted by Veloce Club Tombolo and directed by Pierluigi Basso.
The event continued with the awards ceremony for the winners of the 23rd edition held in 2024 and won by the "Mbh Bank-Ballan-CSB-Colpack" team. On this occasion, the Prize wanted by Bragagnolo Argenti from patron Giuseppe Ballan was handed over to the Team representatives, along with the annual "Sport and Culture" and "Sports Manager of the Year" certificates to the Panathlon Club Cittadella on its 50th anniversary, with President Carlo Alberto Marangon and the head of the Veneto Regional Committee, Mario Guerretta. They were awarded by Grand Prix managers Pierluigi Basso, Amedeo Pilotto, Sergio Pivato, Giampietro Bonin, Michele Michielon. Finally, the famous Alessio Berti honored Gilberto Simoni and the various guests with his latest book "Strong Men, Fragile Men on Cursed Roads". The evening was hosted by Andrea Fin.
