Tomorrow, from Rho in the Milan area with an individual time trial of 8.4 km, the Giro d'Italia Next Gen for Under 23 riders kicks off. For the MG Kvis Costruzioni e Ambiente Colors for Peace team, this is one of the season's key events. In total, there will be 1057 kilometers and over 14,000 meters of elevation spread across eight stages. Two mountain top finishes, at Passo Maniva and Prato Nevoso. The Giro will culminate on Sunday, June 22nd in Pinerolo.
The team will be led by Maurizio Frizzo and Angelo Baldini and will include Uruguayan champion Ciro Alvarez Perez, Tuscan Matteo Lapo Bozicevich, British rider Jenson Duggy Brown, Trentino native Giovanni Fanton, and Umbrian Vittorio Friggi.
Baldini: "We are approaching this Giro with five ambitious young riders who will try to showcase their skills and qualities in a challenging and demanding context. The trend is good, as demonstrated by our strong performances at the recent Giro della Campania (Fanton 10th overall and Perez placed in the prologue and second stage). We are aware that we will face the strongest international teams, but we will try to play a leading role and collect results, primarily aiming for a stage victory".
