
Manoppello, Guardia Vomano di Notaresco, Casalincontrada, Cepagatti, and Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata will be the stage locations for the Abruzzo Junior Tour – Ferrometal Trophy, a national FCI event that will bring the best Italian talents in the category to the region. The race will take place from May 1st to 4th, with the patronage of the Abruzzo Region and the involved municipal administrations.
This ambitious project, now in its second consecutive year thanks to the collaboration between Vomano Bike and Parmegiani Management, offers young riders a prestigious platform and a crucial launching pad for their cycling careers. Moreover, it is an event that confirms Abruzzo as a land of great sporting events and cycling excellence, and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the region's territory by cycling through breathtaking landscapes and places rich in history and traditions.
In total, there will be 393.9 kilometers of racing spread across four stages involving 150 riders with a small international representation. Among the registered teams, the local Abruzzo teams Vini Fantini-Tralfo, Mario De Cecco-Logistica Ambientale, and Team Belvedere will not be missing.
Four classifications with corresponding jerseys are planned: blue (individual time), red (points), green (mountain grand prix), and white (young riders).
The Abruzzo Tour will debut on Thursday, May 1st in Manoppello, combined with the 1st May Trophy-City of Manoppello (in its 76th edition, second only to the Matteotti Trophy in longevity). The race will start at 9:30 AM with an initial 24.5 km loop to Manoppello Scalo and back. Then four laps of a 17.5 km circuit touching the town of Turrivalignani. Finish on the classic ramp leading to the heart of Manoppello's historic center.
Friday, May 2nd, the second stage, named Mamma and Papà De Patre Trophy, will take place in the municipal territory of Notaresco, specifically in the Guardia Vomano district. Start set for 1:30 PM. Riders will tackle five laps of an undulating 18.8 km circuit characterized by a series of ups and downs.
Saturday, May 3rd, the third stage will start from Casalincontrada at 12:00 PM. After a short linear section, the race will come alive in Cepagatti with six laps of an 11.6 km circuit including Villareia. Then two laps of an 11.2 km loop including the Sant'Agata climb, before the finish line. This stage is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Carlo Santuccione, known as Dr. Carlo's Race.
Sunday, May 4th, the fourth and final stage in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, in memory of Albino Di Matteo, Donnino and Marino Marcozzi. Starting at 11:00 AM, riders will cover 101.2 km in eight initial short laps of 8.5 km between Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata and Ancarano. Then a wide 33 km loop where they will climb the most challenging hill of the route, located between Santa Reparata and Civitella del Tronto. After descending from Civitella, they'll pass through Ancarano before reaching the finish line in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata.
