TROFEO BINDA 2025: CYCLING AND SUSTAINABILITY IN THE SPOTLIGHT
WOMEN | 24/01/2025 | 08:08 In just a few days, the rich promotional program for the 26th "Alfredo Binda Trophy - Cittiglio Municipality", a prestigious race in the UCI Women's WorldTour international cycling calendar, and the 12th "Small Alfredo Binda Trophy - Valli del Verbano", a competition valid for the Women Juniors Nations Cup, will begin in Cittiglio. Both races will take place on Sunday, March 16, 2025, starting from Luino and finishing, as tradition dictates, in Cittiglio, the hometown of Alfredo Binda, whom cycling history remembers as the only athlete who was paid not to race in the Giro d'Italia, due to his overwhelming superiority. The 2025 promotional program will develop around three main themes: Nutrition, Road Safety, and Environment, through a series of events and meetings. The Program Cittiglio (VA) – January 31, 2025 - "Nutrition and Food" 11:00 AM – Lesson for fourth and fifth-grade students of the Comprehensive Institute of Gemonio (VA).
Cittiglio (VA) – February 5, 2025 - "Pedal, Pedal... Safely" 10:30 AM – Meeting dedicated to fourth and fifth-grade classes of the Comprehensive Institute of Gemonio, in collaboration with the State Police of Varese and the Local Police.
Gemonio (VA) – February 12, 2025 - "Pedal, Pedal... Safely" 9:30 AM – Session for fourth and fifth-grade primary school classes, in collaboration with the State Police of Varese and the Local Police.
Cuveglio (VA) – February 12, 2025 - "Pedal, Pedal... Safely" 11:30 AM – Activity for fourth and fifth-grade primary school classes, with the support of the State Police of Varese and the Local Police.
Saturday, March 15 – Cittiglio (VA) - "Environment Project" With adherence to the "UCI Climate Action Charter", Cycling Sport Promotion launches the initiative "A Tree for the Future", promoting concrete actions for environmental protection. "Pedal, Pedal... Safely" 2:30 PM – Students from schools in Cittiglio, Gemonio, and Cuveglio will test themselves on a circuit set up in the Municipal Park (near the railway station), to consolidate the knowledge acquired during the training meetings. At the end, each participant will receive a certificate and a gadget.
Saturday, March 15 – Luino (VA) - Activities for Children and Teenagers 2:00 PM – In Piazza della Libertà, ASD Lavena Ponte Tresa Coop will organize a school route for children from kindergarten, primary, and lower secondary schools. At the end, each participant will receive a certificate and a gadget. 4th Edition of "Let's Pedal Together" 3:30 PM – Non-competitive bicycle ride open to all, through the streets of Luino, on the occasion of Father's Day.
Sunday, March 16 – Cittiglio (VA) - "Welcome to Cittiglio" Parade on the finish straight for children and teenagers of all ages. Each participant will be given a gift.
The Projects "Pedal, Pedal... Safely" Promoted by Cycling Sport Promotion by Mario Minervino since 2008, the project aims to spread bicycle use among young people, raising awareness about road safety. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the State Police of Varese, Local Police, and School Principals of the Varese province. "Environment" In line with the "UCI Climate Action Charter", the project aims to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection. As every year in March, Cycling Sport Promotion and the Municipal Administration organize an event to enhance the local environmental heritage.
