GARMIN ITALY, A CUTTING-EDGE HEADQUARTERS FOCUSED ON SUSTAINABILITY AND EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING

NEWS | 10/12/2024 | 17:08
Garmin, a GPS technology leader for 35 years, maintains its pioneering nature in its founding strategies, which are centered on people and sustainability. This is confirmed by the opening of its new Italian headquarters, refined together with the expertise of the TQUATTRO Architecture studio.
Located at Viale del Ghisallo 12, the building is situated in the vibrant northwest area of Milan, highly suited to the international tertiary sector, strategic for services, urban connections, green areas, and shopping centers. With 20,000 employees driving the brand's mission in over 35 countries, Garmin was founded on the conviction that if you take care of people, they will take care of the company.
New Garmin Italy Headquarters
Following this global approach, Garmin Italy has chosen a new headquarters for its Milan offices. Located at Viale del Ghisallo 12, the new Italian hub combines modernity and technological innovation, distinguishing itself with essential lines and space healthiness. The building is at the highest levels of eco-sustainable architecture, evident in design choices, materials, high attention to green spaces, and the well-being of those who spend their working days there.
The property is designed with the highest energy and environmental performance, aimed at optimizing consumption and supporting a healthy work environment. Air healthiness is maximized by using low-toxicity materials and active carbon filtration systems, while the photovoltaic system on the roof provides a portion of the building's energy. "For the new Garmin Italy headquarters, we have chosen a cutting-edge building in terms of sustainability and corporate well-being," said Stefano Viganò, CEO of Garmin Italy. "A priority commitment we have taken with a sense of responsibility towards all the people who make the brand great in our country and whom we constantly want to be inspired, productive, and enthusiastic about company life.
The signal we want to send is clear: Garmin is at the forefront of the markets it serves, and we believe its territorial presence must go hand in hand. I am proud to inaugurate this headquarters, which makes us even more market leaders projected towards the future." Thanks to innovative architectural and plant solutions, the new Garmin Italy headquarters is a registered building with the goal of LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, focused on environment and energy, and WELL® (Well building standard), attentive to the well-being of building occupants. Two distinct certifications that, however, operate in harmony and have allowed the design of a highly performing building in terms of energy and environmental aspects, while simultaneously guaranteeing the well-being of people who will use the spaces.
Well-being for Garmin People
"We strongly wanted an innovative headquarters, capable of hosting spaces that Garmin employees will be enthusiastic about living," comments Alessandra Torriani, HR Manager & Executive Assistant of Garmin Italy. "That's why we chose an environment capable of combining a strong green vocation and extreme attention to employee well-being, who from today will have areas where they can find balance between business and convivial moments. This will allow them to experience the company not only as a workplace but also as a stimulus and complement to a healthy lifestyle, useful for promoting teamwork and sharing among people." In the building, Garmin employees can dedicate themselves to physical well-being in a fully equipped Technogym gym, open and monitored 24 hours a day and accessible even during weekends. An essential element for a sports-oriented company like Garmin, which has made its sporting DNA a true flagship and a distinctive element that makes it a leading and unique company in the market. Garmin chose to rely on Technogym because the two brands share the same vision regarding digital products and technologies for fitness, sports, wellness, and health. Technogym offers an ecosystem of connected smart equipment, digital services, on-demand training experiences that allow each Garmin employee to access a unique and cutting-edge training experience. Attention to well-being will be a constant commitment for Garmin to be carried forward throughout the year, with workshops and speeches by prominent personalities who will alternate in the brand new digital space of Garmin Italy, destined to become a true hub where internal and external expertise, company events, and training moments will converge. In addition to indoor spaces, Garmin Italy also chose the headquarters for the beauty of its open spaces. Equipped with a small courtyard garden at the entrance, the building maintains its eco-sustainable vocation even outside.
Sustainability as a Corporate Strategy
Among the five pillars on which the brand's success is founded, capable of guiding the company towards the future, sustainability stands out: Garmin continuously invests in people, structures, and equipment for a long-term successful strategy. In 2023, Garmin reduced CO2 emissions through the use of renewable energy, accompanied by investments in energy-efficient technologies within its structures and continuous recycling practices, in which employees play a fundamental role. During 2023, the brand collected and recycled approximately 5,000 tons of materials, including paper, cardboard, plastic, and electronic waste from its facilities.
