Italy has lit up in pink to celebrate the 100 days until the 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia, and Bormio and its region could certainly not be left behind.
On May 28th, 2025, the Valtellina town will welcome the finish of the Pink Race at the end of the 17th stage, whose route already seems to set the stage for an exciting challenge for climbers. Not just cycling, but also an opportunity to celebrate the future host of the Men's Alpine Skiing races and the historic debut of Alpine Skiing at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
For the occasion, in this alpine location, a Mecca for two-wheel enthusiasts from around the world, in addition to the unmistakable Olympic rings, the Piazza del Kuerc, the pulsating heart of Bormio, with its Church of Saints Gervasio and Protasio, the Clock Tower and the Kuerc, and, not far from the central Via Roma, the Mulino Salacrist, a true historical work of art, were illuminated in the traditional pink of the Giro d'Italia.
Not only the future stage location was involved, but the entire region that this year prepares to celebrate the bicentenary of the construction of one of the most iconic roads in cycling history, the Stelvio Pass. The Fraele Towers, located on the road leading to the Cancano Lakes, illuminated the magnificent panorama of the Bormio valleys in pink.
It will be a great celebration of sport and territory in Bormio on May 28th, 2025: after departing from San Michele all'Adige, the world's best cyclists will first tackle the Tonale Pass, then climb the Mortirolo Pass and finally the last effort, the Motte climb, before the final push towards the finish line in the center of Bormio, at the end of the 154 km stage.
